Computer vision analytics

Turn existing CCTV feeds into real-time alerts and searchable events for crowding, intrusion, vehicles and safety compliance.

Overview

Hundreds of cameras were recording, and nobody was watching.

Footage was only reviewed after something went wrong, if at all. Sumato's video analytics watches existing camera feeds continuously and raises an alert the moment something needs attention: a crowd building, a vehicle where it shouldn't be, a perimeter crossed.

  • Uses existing cameras

Works with standard IP and CCTV cameras already installed.

  • Real-time alerts

Operators are notified in seconds, with a clip of the event.

  • Search by event

Find every red car or every crowd alert in minutes, not hours of footage.

  • Edge or central

Runs at the site or in a central command centre, depending on bandwidth.

Capabilities

Video that tells you what is happening

Analytics models tuned for Indian roads, crowds and sites.

  • Crowd density

Estimates crowd levels and alerts before thresholds are crossed at events and stations.

  • Intrusion and perimeter

Detects people or vehicles entering restricted zones after hours.

  • Number plate recognition

Reads Indian number plates, including non-standard fonts, for entry logs and alerts.

  • Safety compliance

Checks for helmets, vests and other PPE at worksites.

  • Object left behind

Flags unattended bags or objects in public spaces.

  • Command centre dashboard

Alerts, maps and clips in one console, with escalation workflows.

How it works

From camera feed to action

  1. 01

    Connect cameras

Existing camera streams are connected over RTSP with no rewiring.

  2. 02

    Define rules

Zones, times and thresholds are set for each camera.

  3. 03

    Detect events

Models analyze every frame and pick out the events that matter.

  4. 04

    Alert and respond

Operators get the clip and location and can escalate in one click.

Use cases

Where it makes a difference

  • Public safety

Help city and event teams act before crowding becomes dangerous.

    • Festival and rally crowds
    • Station and market monitoring
    • Unattended object alerts
  • Traffic and transport

Automate vehicle logging and violation detection.

    • Number plate logging
    • Wrong-way and no-entry alerts
    • Parking occupancy
  • Industrial sites

Keep worksites safe and secure around the clock.

    • PPE compliance
    • After-hours intrusion
    • Restricted zone monitoring

Results

Measurable results

  • Seconds

    from event to operator alert

  • Hours → minutes

to find an event in recorded footage

  • 24/7

    coverage without adding operators

Indicative figures from Sumato deployments. Outcomes depend on data, scale and adoption.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do we need new cameras?

Usually not. Most IP cameras of 2MP or more that provide an RTSP stream are supported.

How are false alarms handled?

Zones, schedules and confidence thresholds are tuned per camera during a calibration period, and operators can mark false alarms to improve accuracy.

Where is the video processed?

On edge devices at the site or on central GPU servers, depending on bandwidth and the number of cameras.

How is privacy protected?

Access is role-based, footage retention follows your policy, and faces can be blurred in exported clips.
